Lots of local restaurants are offering St. Patrick’s Day specials and The Penny Ice Creamery is offering limited edition flavors for the holiday.
See my March 14 article for information on additional St. Patrick’s Day special dishes and highlights.
The Penny Ice Creamery is creating four small batches of special ice cream on Saturday, to serve on Sunday at its two main locations (Cedar St. and 41st Ave.). Co-owner Zach Davis shares that “repeat favorite Irish Coffee features a heady dose of Jameson Whiskey and ‘Buena Vista beans’ from Verve.” Shamrock is made with foraged wood sorrel; Pot of Gold has flecks of real gold; and Brown Bread is a traditional Irish ice cream recipe “bequeathed by a Penny regular.” Flavors will be available for a limited time. On Sunday The Penny will offer these four plus Tahitian Vanilla Bean, two other ice cream flavors, a seasonal fruit sorbet, and Dark Chocolate Sorbet.
