Hi — I am still doing what I can to share information during the Coronavirus pandemic. Here’s the latest list I’ve been able to gather. Please forgive any mistakes in these listings, 1) because it’s a constantly changing situation, and 2) because I’m moving really fast trying to distribute a lot at once.   • Colectivo Felix: Thursday and Friday empanada, soup, and/or dip delivery to Santa Cruz residents,
  • Companion Bakeshop: Westside location open 8 a.m.-2 p.m., Aptos location closed,
  • Crow’s Nest: takeout daily with curbside pickup 11:30 a.m.-8 p.m., also Beach Market next door 9 a.m.-8 p.m.,
  • Dharma’s: closed for the foreseeable future

  • Mentone: David Kinch’s new restaurant opened March 25 with takeout only at 174 Aptos Village Way, Pre-order pizza, salad, cocktails, and wine at for Wednesday-Sunday pickup (4 p.m. until sold out). Pizza includes pesto and Crescenza cheese, and Sopressata and Calabrian chiles.
  • Mission Hill Creamery: 2-9 p.m. Tues-Sat, 2-7 Sun, selections include ice cream, fresh bread, chicken pot pies,

  • Vim Dining & Desserts: main restaurant is closed but owner/chef Jesikah Stolaroff is doing take-out and delivery of “celebration cakes and desserts” including brownies and cookies, on a sliding scale. They are also selling bottles of wine. Email to place an order.
  • Zameen: They are re-opening the Aptos location March 26 and offering to-go food. “We will have a limited menu that changes daily, offering dishes from all three locations,” says owner Ed Watson (other branches remain closed)

Grocery stores

  • Aptos Natural Foods has reduced hours of 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. with senior hours of 8-10 a.m. (65 years and up, and 10 percent discount during this time),
  • Black Point Market: still open for business, groceries and ready-to-eat food, 831- 713-5842
  • Costco: hours are 9 a.m.-8:30 p.m., seniors and vulnerable customers can shop Tues & Thurs 8-9 a.m.,
  • Deluxe Foods: open for business, see
  • Grocery Outlet: hoursare8 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily,
  • New Leaf Community Markets: reduced hours 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily, encouraging people with flexibility to come in after 9 a.m. so that 8-9 a.m. can be for pregnant, senior, and immune-compromised individuals They extended senior discount from Wednesday, to Monday through Friday
  • Nob Hill: open, visit
  • Safeway: reduced hours & senior early morning hours on certain days depending on location,
  • Shopper’s Corner: as of March 25, they had not reduced hours (still 6 a.m. – 9 p.m.). For seniors and vulnerable guests, they will take your order via email ( and shop for you Monday-Friday, & call when ready to pick up—when you email your list, include your name & phone #.
  • Staff of Life: reduced hours 9 a.m.-8 p.m., seniors 60 & older can shop at 8 a.m. from Monday-Friday,
  • Target: reduced hours at stores including Capitola & Watsonville (8 a.m.-9 p.m.); starting next week they’ll reserve the first hour stores are open on Tuesdays and Wednesdays to accommodate seniors and those with underlying health concerns (stores with CVS Pharmacy inside will be open during those times as well),
  • Trader Joe’s: reduced hours: 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily,
  • Whole Foods: reduced hours 9 a.m.-8 p.m., seniors 60 & older can shop at 8 a.m.

Farmer’s Markets

  • Discretion Brewing: online ordering ( and parking lot pick up from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily, beginning March 25.
  • Humble Sea Brewing Co. is to-go only. Hours are Monday-Thursday 2-7 p.m. and Friday-Sunday noon to 7 p.m.  Visit

Sushi Market Sprouts: still open, they carry prepared packaged sushi (same family that runs Kaito Restaurant) & a few Japanese groceries & housewares, also refrigerated miso dressing from Hakouya,
