On Tuesday June 4, 2013, there are two events related to UCSC\u2019s Shakespeare Santa Cruz (SSC<\/a>), and one is a win-win for local pizza fans.<\/p>\n

Pizza Benefit at Woodstock\u2019s<\/b><\/p>\n

Woodstock\u2019s Pizza<\/a> is donating a percentage of its dinner sales (good for dine-in AND to-go) between 5 p.m.\u00a0 and 9 p.m. to SSC \u2013 but ONLY for the customers that bring in a special flyer (click here<\/a>). In case you\u2019ve never been to Woodstock\u2019s, it offers a lot of tasty pizza choices (including whole wheat, white, and gluten-free crust options), several salads (including organic spinach with almonds, dried cranberries, and organic balsamic dressing), and a decent beer selection. There is a huge amount of seating including a pleasant outdoor patio. Spread the word: depending on how much money SSC fans spend at Woodstock\u2019s that night, SSC \u2013 a fabulous repertory theater company \u2013\u00a0 will receive between 15% and 25% of these sales.<\/p>\n

Season Preview at Bookshop SC<\/b><\/p>\n

At 7:30 p.m., SSC Artistic Director Marco Barricelli is speaking at Bookshop Santa Cruz. He will introduce the 2013 summer festival season, share set and costume designs, and answer attendee questions.<\/p>\n

Interested in going to a SSC play? The main 2013 SSC season starts July 23 and lasts until September 1. This year\u2019s plays are Shakespeare\u2019s The Taming of the Shrew<\/i> and Henry V<\/i>. There is also a show that features SSC\u2019s acting interns, always referred to as \u201cThe Fringe Show.\u201d This year, they\u2019re performing Tom Jones<\/i>, adapted by Jon Jory from the novel by Henry Fielding, on August 20 & 27.
