Awards were given out in categories including pickles and preserves at an Alice Waters-hosted ceremony in San Francisco.<\/p>\n<p>Preserve winners included Apricot Chili Jam from Big Sur-based <a href=\"http:\/\/happygirlkitchen.com\/\">Happy Girl Kitchen<\/a>, which makes a huge variety of yummy organic jams and pickles. You can buy this jam online as part of the <a href=\"http:\/\/happygirlkitchen.com\/favorites\/sweet-california\/\">\u201cSweet California\u201d package<\/a> which also features strawberry jam and orange marmalade. In Santa Cruz, Happy Girl products are sold at Food Bin or through <a href=\"https:\/\/santacruzlocalfoods.com\/\">Santa Cruz Local Foods<\/a>. Ceres helps teens learn about preparing and eating healthy foods while simultaneously providing organic meals to people battling cancer. Read more about the award-winning salad, including sauerkraut\u2019s health benefits, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ceresproject.org\/CCFsauerkraut.html\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>A collaboration of food producers, farmers, food journalists and independent grocers organized by <a href=\"http:\/\/seedlingprojects.org\/\">Seedling Projects<\/a> created the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.goodfoodawards.org\/\">Good Food Awards<\/a>, which celebrate \u201ctasty, authentic and responsibly produced\u201d products and honor \u201coutstanding American food producers and the farmers who provide their ingredients.\u201d From 780 entries, 130 finalists were named, and there were 71 total prizes in seven categories from several US regions. The categories were beer, charcuterie, cheese, chocolate, coffee, pickles and preserves.<\/p>\n<p>Peruse the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.goodfoodawards.org\/the-awards\/winners\/ \">list of other winners<\/a> including ones in beer, charcuterie, cheese, chocolate, and coffee.
